2 billion Christians in the world

Billy boy Walker sent me an email about what a great fun party he had on winder solstice and how the kind of pseudo witchie new ager types there are gaining ground and becoming the majority. That's supposed to make me despair and to "O owe is me, god don't exist becuase there's more than 3% of people who don't do Christianity boo woo I guess that means I'm wrong because I'm in the minority now."

Real actual atheists are still at 3%. liberal pastors and Eastern religions who mediate and seek nirvana are not atheists. Atheists are shrinking and dying out and going away. the influx of winter solstice, witchcraft and new age and eastern thought and Unitarians are not atheists. That is all just as scary to atheists as it is to fundies.

Atheist are fudies. The idea of spiritual people finding some truth beyond reductionism and scinece is just as scary to the atheist as it is to the fundie.

Some atheists see religous people as agents of big mean daddy snooks in the sky who wont let the corn hole and screw. So they hate God and that's why they hate fundies. They imagine that liberal Christians are just jumped up fundies becuase they are so ignorant, like Bill Walker, that they don't know what liberals are.

but people doing TM and having winter solstice parties are just as scary for the atheist ufndie as for the Christian fundie.

The atheist fundie imagines that truth is a matter of popularity, that's hard for them becuase they know they are not the majority so until they become so they have to live with total connotative dissonance. The imagine that Christians have the same schizoid messed up natures so they think I'm going to fall apart because some new age types had a good time over the holidays.

But I don't care. That Walker guy showed total absolute ignorance. he nas no clue at all what I'm saying or what I believe or how I feel about anything. It doesn't bother me at all that some people are into other things, I'm not the least bit afraid of witch craft. I've actually some pretty good friends who did witchcraft.

He has absolutely no idea where I"m coming from, but I do know atheism. He if he's a real atheist he's sacred to death of the kind of people claims to hand out with. Athiests are scared to death to even think for themselves.

Were you dropped on your head as a child, Joe?

I have no idea who Billie boy Walker is, but both those statements are BS.

According to you athiests 'hate God'? That's quite a trick when they don'y believe that God even exists.

You do know that the definition of atheism is 'A disbelief in the existence of God [or Gods]' don't you?

Not all atheists. A segment. NO it's not a big trick, I already explained that.

You do know that the definition of atheism is 'A disbelief in the existence of God [or Gods]' don't you?

I now that's a propagandist slogan of the atheist ideology.

I was an atheist. you can't tell me anything about being one I've been there.

Only twice, the second time was after the book case fell on me.

Bill Walker is a reader of this blog and also of atheist watch who occasionally makes comments and I answer them.

I know they are BS they were just for Bill.

You know what you believed you have no idea what anyone else believes. That's like me saying "I was a Christian. You can't tell me anything about being one I've been there."

Joseph Hinman (Metacrock) said...

no it's not that's ridiculous. Atheism is a lot simpler than being a Christian. It's just one thing, don't believe something.

I am actually willing to believe that you know somethings about Christianity. just a few ;-)

Metacrock answered "Not all atheists. A segment. NO it's not a big trick, I already explained that."

My answer: Since atheism is a disbelief in the existence of God then if someone believes in God, whether they hate them or not they cannot be an atheist.

I wrote "You do know that the definition of atheism is 'A disbelief in the existence of God [or Gods]' don't you?"

Metacrock replied "I now that's a propagandist slogan of the atheist ideology."

My answer "That definition came from a dictionary. So dictionaries are involved in pushing propagandist slogans of atheists are they? Who'da thunk it? :-) Or, just maybe, you're wrong.

Metacrock wrote "I was an atheist. you can't tell me anything about being one I've been there."

My reply: I was a christian fundie. I know what lying scum they are. To quote you "You can't tell me anything about being one I've been there." Oh and by the way. I am NOT an atheist! That being so I'm not interested in proganda either pro nor anti atheist.

However, Christian apologists are VERY quick to use the No True Scotsman fallacy when it comes to anything that they dislike. Some of them even end up dismissing large fractions of these 2 billion as fakes. The more hard-line sort of Protestants consider Catholic and Eastern Orthodox to be Mary-worshipping, saint-worshipping idolators, for instance.

Metacrock, you yourself must concede that the majority of Christians have beliefs that you consider false, such as belief in eternal damnation and belief that God is a discrete entity.

Also, Metacrock, atheists do not necessarily believe in the crude stereotype of reductionism that you project onto them. I myself believe in emergent properties.

Bragging "I was once an atheist" does not tell you *anything* about what other atheists believe. If atheism is as vile as you seem to think it is, why aren't you ashamed of having once been an atheist?

One can be a complete atheist and celebrate the winter solstice -- check out HumanLight some time.

Furthermore, Metacrock, I don't see how New Age belief systems are any vindication of your beliefs, since they often depart rather dramatically from yours.

Finally, you claimed that atheists just want to have all the sex they want without the Xian God forbidding it. That's suspiciously close to the "big man in the sky" view of God, and that suggests that the supposed Ruler of the Universe is obsessed with our sex lives.

Older diciontaries define it differently. If does depend on the dictionary (for example if it was skeptic's dictionary then of course it uses that definition) but modern dictionaries have changed the defition to suit the propaganda slogan because it's used so much. Atheists have embraced it as their own self definition even though it's inadequate and was invented a ploy most people care enough to dig down that find that out. Most people don't give a damn about atheists or what they think so they are willing to accept your self definition because they don't care to think about it anyway.

Metacrock wrote "I was an atheist. you can't tell me anything about being one I've been there."

Lot of fundies are lying scum. you got that much right. Since you are not an atheist you don't have the insider's view of them I do so you really have no grounds for discussing my claims.

If someone wants to stick to the definition "lack a belief" that's ok with me I can argue on that basis. It's is quite possible to hate someone you don't believe exits.

The segment of atheism I call "hate group atheism" hate religious people, they hate Christians and hate everything connected with it.

in thier hearts they know God is real so they hate God and saying they don't beileve he exists is just a nonsequitter. But even so, they tell himself he deosn't exist but htey still hate:

(1) the idea of him

(2) the personality that is portrayed in the bible even though they don't believe it's a real thing

(3) they hate the value system that is attributed to God.

(4) they hate the symbol of the good.

remember now I don't speak of all atheist, just the hate group part.

Atheist don't understand the concept and they get the fallacy wrong. I also have problems believing it's a real fallacy employed by logicians. But here's my pate on it,

Read All About it

Some of them even end up dismissing large fractions of these 2 billion as fakes. The more hard-line sort of Protestants consider Catholic and Eastern Orthodox to be Mary-worshipping, saint-worshipping idolators, for instance.

so what? what difference does that make to the issue at hand?

Metacrock, you yourself must concede that the majority of Christians have beliefs that you consider false, such as belief in eternal damnation and belief that God is a discrete entity.

Every single human being on the face of this earth has views that I believe are false, including myself! I don't believe that having false views necessarily in and of itself is that big a deal. One chooses belief as sincerely as possible, beliefs held for shallow reasons are damnable but those held in seeking truth are not damning.

Also, Metacrock, atheists do not necessarily believe in the crude stereotype of reductionism that you project onto them. I myself believe in emergent properties.

that's why I said I"m speaking of a segment, Remember? I said "not all atheists."

Bragging "I was once an atheist" does not tell you *anything* about what other atheists believe.

Obviously I spent time with them, learned of their views. read their books, listened to their feeble opinions.

If atheism is as vile as you seem to think it is, why aren't you ashamed of having once been an atheist?

who says I'm not? But I did say I'm talking about one segemnt when I paint them as vile, remember? Why do atheists have such probelms wtih reading comprehension? That seems to be a universal among them. I wonder if my reading comprehension got better when I got saved?

One can be a complete atheist and celebrate the winter solstice -- check out HumanLight some time.

when did I say they can't? Atheists can celibrate anything they wish, even the birth of Christ. For that matter I can celibrate the winter solstace. There's verse in the bible that say not to.

Hey, It's winter now! yahooooo!

Furthermore, Metacrock, I don't see how New Age belief systems are any vindication of your beliefs, since they often depart rather dramatically from yours.

see now here's a classic example of how atheists can't understand what they read! The guy was trying to annoy me with the anecdote that he calibrated the solstice. So I said that sort of thing is just as scary to atheists they don't want a bunch of neo-pagans around. If Christianity disappeared tomorrow atheist would go to work trying to rid the world of neo pagans.

from this you set some silly idea that I'm endorsing new age beliefs? What do you think about when you read?

Finally, you claimed that atheists just want to have all the sex they want without the Xian God forbidding it.

actually I did not say that. I'm talking about that "atheist fundie" hate group thing.

That's suspiciously close to the "big man in the sky"

that's what I think atheists understand about the concept of God, most of them don't' go any deeper than "there's a big man in the sky."

view of God, and that suggests that the supposed Ruler of the Universe is obsessed with our sex lives.

that's what hate group atheists think. They think to be a religious person is to be obsessed with stopping people from having sex.

Lorden I'm sorry to be insulting to you. But it never ceases to amaze me how badly you and some other atheists understand what I say. I don't know if you are doing it on purpose to distort my meaning for others or if you really can't fellow what I write. But happens like all the time.
