Ouch! AAAAAAAAAAA, how I feel about the election

Obviously I'm not happy. I have lost elections a lot of times. My first was 1972, my brother and I worked for George McGovern, We went to the HQ every day after school and registered voters on week ends, I was almost knifed in the Dallas projects by a pimp lookimg guy who said white people had no business there. I was saved by a huge line backer who must have been 7 feet tall who said "He's doing this for our people." The pimp looking guy slunk away. I was a sophomore in highschool, We were saving the world. We lost by the second greatest landslide in American history.

I can handle losing an election it'w who won that makes me mad. People saw how terrible Trump was just four years ago but they have totally forgotten. Americans would rather feel economically secure than be free. They have traded their freedom for security and this will become apparent over time.

An anonymous idiot comments on the blog, "You only have yourself to blame for the culture in which we live. I had to inherit this from old fools like yourself who helped it become like it is today." Does he nt even notice all the anti Trump things I'e said? I Have spent my whole life working to change the world for the better and had zero effect. I changed nothing,I bear no responsibility for Trump that is insane. I am proud of my life time of social protest and left leaning organizing. I would do it all again if I had it to do over. I might try to find some more effective ways.My brother and I were major organizers in Texas in the Central America Movement, fighting contra aid.

Ultimately all we can do is trust God. That is the only protection we have against the ravages of history. Sometimes that takes the form of going home to be with Jesus. Before I do that, however, I would like to think I took a few with me and made the world a bit better.

See the guys at top of page in grpahic? That's my image of who I am that's my youth that ideal as I grew up. It probably had no effect on anything Still we tried. We hada ourselves a time

Trump says "I love the uneducated." That's because they vote for him. If not for that, he wouldn't give them the time of day. But as it is, he panders to them. He gives them exactly what appeals to them: stupidity. His whole campaign was an appeal to hatred, bigotry, and stupidity. And folks like our 'anominus' friend loved it. Millions of them. Just like Hitler.

I wonder what it will be like four years from now. With the courts all packed with right-wing extremists, chosen specifically for their loyalty to the fuehrer. With taxes for the rich eliminated, creating an enormous national debt that ultimately will completely collapse the economy. With the FBI transformed into the new Gestapo, doing whatever he tells them, especially going after political opponents and dissenters. With Homeland Security becoming the new SS under Tom Homan (the ex-ICE director), removing millions from the population, along with liberals, homosexuals, Asians, atheists, Muslims, people of color, and anyone else the deem to be "unfit" citizens of Trump's America. With the Education department replaced by the new Ministry of Propaganda, whose job will be to indoctrinate children with Trump's hateful ideology and a perverted form of Christianity. With Kennedy (the conspiracy theorist and science denier) running Health and Human Services and the FDA, banning vaccinations and all kinds of drugs. With Elon Musk overseeing the elimination of most federal regulations and consumer protections, allowing corporations to pollute the land, air, and water with impunity, and sell unsafe or dangerous products with no recourse for the customers who are harmed or killed. With tariffs creating economic warfare between nations, and dramatically raising the cost of living. With all of our international alliances and partnerships shattered, leaving America to stand alone with no support from the countries that always used to be our friends. These are all things that Trump wants to do. And what his idiotic fans demand.

Hello, this is off-topic from the post, as I can't find a different way to contact you, but I am trying to find a response you made many years ago to the "Tale of the Twelve Police Officers." I have read the original anti-parable, and it's been bothering me for several days. I've been searching for a meaningful solution to answer the anti-parable, but I've come up short.

I found this blog through this website:
https://christiancadre.blogspot.com/2008/01/new-resource-tale-of-twelve-officers.html

The links to your response no longer work, and I haven't been able to find it in your blog archive. It might be a long shot, but if you still have your response from 16 years ago, I would love to see it.

Why did all those people vote for Nixon? Now, I don't believe in either side, but Nixon just came off of something called Watergate. How dumb could they be?

I'd like to offer some words of encouragement, but I can't think of any. I'm sorry.

Joseph Hinman (Metacrock) said...

hey JAB I think Trump makes Nixon look like a boy scout, I would rather have Nixon than Trump, yes I hated Nixon. He's was far smarter than Trump. I think he had a sense of the good of the country, He did establish EPA.

Joseph Hinman (Metacrock) said...

Mike I appreciate the thought. What can we say? Here we go again!

Nobody voted for Nixon after the Watergate scandal. He resigned, because he understood that he would be impeached.

Regarding your free will parody, it is worth addressing the article from Internet Infidels, but I think you completely miss the point. If you think they aren't good arguments, you are correct. As ridiculous as all those officers' responses may be, they are the the very same arguments Christians use in their own soteriological narrative. That's what makes it a parody.

Good point, Joe. Forgot about the EPA. I think that Trump is sort of like Reagan in a way. I know a pastor at a church I go to that said that those two are the best presidents ever (lol).

Thank you, I appreciate it. I was less looking at it from the view of trying to debunk atheists and more of trying to understand the morality of such a situation, if there is a solution. The problem of pain is one that affects everyone, even God, so I am trying to learn about this. Pain and injustice are the main reasons so many anti-theists hold to to fuel their hatred of God, like anything these must somehow dissolve in the face of God's love.

im-skeptical said...

1. You can't hate something that you don't believe exists.
2. The supposed "face of God's love" is what we see in our world: lots of pain and suffering.
3. All your efforts to explain what we see are just lame excuses that don't hold up to logic.

Reagan was horrible. He worst President after Trump. You think EPA is trivial bullship that is ignorant, thousands people would have died each year without the EPA.

No they are not. None of those arguments are part of Christian soteriology. I don't use them. some do some ,people are totally ignorant, i dont' ask that you become an ignorant Christian be like me.

No, I don't think that the EPA is horrible. I just forgot about that. Also, wasn't Nixon trying to pass some universal health care or something like that?

im-skeptical said...

These are fairly standard arguments, use by philosophical Christians. Whatever arguments you use, they are all excuses or rationalizations for the pain and suffering we see in this world where God is the ultimate expression of "love".

I don't intend to continue discussing in this thread after this, but I do want to say that there are anti-theists who definitely hate the idea of God, it bleeds out from their words. I am not claiming that their hatred is unjust, just that it exists. The anti-parable is justified because all the reasons it brings up are morally wrong, none of them are acceptable for love.

I believe the person who wrote it has a point in that all of the reasons given are inadequate, (believe me I've heard several of them from Christians), but in my limited understanding I don't believe the anti-parable is itself adequate to describe what really happens in the world with God.

Many people have a different concept of God that is informed by their experiences and other's beliefs. I do not believe the same God that many anti-theists talk about.

Love endures much things, including pain and suffering, I believe God's Love will vanquish all evil and hate with no exceptions. You believe differently, and that is okay, I believe God is committed to you and everyone else just the same.

I hope your heart finds peace if it hasn't already. Goodbye for now.

Hey Skep I will expect your commentary in the comment section on the 12 stereotypes. Do I think the Christian arguments are good? No but I the ParaBody isls unfair and wants us to think there are no good arguments, they have not read mine,
