As long as we get the gist of the ideas, we're ok?

Depending on the endlessly conflicting writings of Paul?

you are off the beam. The statement you respond to is about the Gospels. We know who most Paul's letters (minus pastorals) there is no synoptic Paul problem,s o that statement does not apply

Admitting that this is the case, you critisize the belief of people who can prove their beliefs, who can prove where their text came from, who get more than the "gist" but recorded history including even the most minute details?

that is absurdly naive. the vast majority of historians accept the historicity of Jesus. Lots of things in secular history are not nailed down. It's absurd to claim that historians have everything in detail, clearly you do not study history.

atheists cannot prove their beliefs. you want to pretend that your beliefs are synonymous with science, they are not. Atheism is not science, atheism is not proven. you describe them as people who can prove their beliefs, they are not.

And this faith precedes Christianity. How is it that Judaism can precede Christianity and have so much that is solid and without question...

that's so totally silly. They can't even prove that Isralites were ever Egypt. They can't prove they they were not just another cannite tribe that emergd right in cannon. We know Isaiah for exampel is made out of two seperates books written 200 years apart. they can't prove the existence of one single historical figure from the OT.

what's totally absurd is the idea that this make Judaism superior to Christianity, as though there was a Choice. Hellooooo, Jesus was a Jew! get it. It had to come first.. how foolish to think Jesus could be the Messiah of the Jews first, then the Jews come to exist!

yet Christianity, not having to survive through nearly as much, can't prove much at all?

ahahahah, they can't prove the existence of a single figure of the OT

Yet, it's superior and absolute "truth" in comparison?

where did I say that?

hellloooooooo, It's the framework for Jesus mission as Messiah. that makes it pretty damn important.Joseph Hinman (Metacrock)https://www.blogger.com/profile/06957529748541493998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11516215.post-37910209068297246832008-02-11T12:31:00.000-08:002008-02-11T12:31:00.000-08:00Who cares if it can't be proven?
