All sin deserves death, according the the New Testament. "The wages of sin is death..." But Jesus did not come to leave us at the mercy of that law. He came to change us through the power of God's love. "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). This article shows a very simplistic and imbalanced interpretation of scripture. For example, Jesus did not say that the Old Testament law would never pass away. He said, "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." Did you catch that last part. Until everything is accomplished, or fulfilled. Jesus fulfilled the law in all its morla and social requirements, he also fulfilled the symbolic types revealed in the types and figures of the sacrifices and rituals (see Hebrews). We are now clearly under a New Covenant with "better promises" (Hebrews 8:6; 12:24). So, you see, there is no dilemma at all! We are not under the Old Law and for very clearly revealed Scriptural reasons. Those who attempt to put us under the Old Law misunderstand the purpose for Christ's coming (as Paul argues so eloquently in Galatians). The New Covenant is a covenant of grace, whereby God gives us his Spirit and gives us the desire and power to do his will (Romans 8). That, at any rate, is my understanding.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
