Not in his philosophical thinking, I'm sure he's good in science but his atheist stuff is no better than a regular message board atheistJoseph Hinman (Metacrock)https://www.blogger.com/profile/06957529748541493998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11516215.post-84187042387969301932016-07-28T17:29:08.141-07:002016-07-28T17:29:08.141-07:00I recently stumbled upon an article from Jerry Coy...I recently stumbled upon an article from Jerry Coyne responding to Plantinga on God being a necessary being.

https://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2012/03/02/plantinga-why-god-is-a-necessary-being/

There are mistakes, one of which is very common among my fellow atheists. The mistake that is common can be said to be this:

Mistake - a theist attempts to show that if God exists then God necessarily exists (Either of logical or metaphysical necessity). A responding atheist confuses the derivation of "If God exists then God exists necessarily" for "God exists necessarily". Coyne directly makes that confusion in the article despite the article he was responding to being an explanation by Plantinga for why God would both be necessary if God exists and it makes no sense to ask what caused God.
