As I've read books on Christian history the pattern becomes so clear that every time Christianity gets tied up with civil government, government does not become holy; Christianity instead becomes corrupt and loses its focus on Christ and the New Creation. <br /><br />As for Augustine, I agree with some of what he says and disagree with others. He was a product of his age when it came to women.
